Future of Ecommerce

There are varying viewpoints on the Future of Ecommerce. There is the group of people who believe the internet is going to continue the robust growth it has been having and that it will have a huge economic impact that is only starting to be seen now. Some believe that many dot-com businesses are doing well. They are running with sound business practices and are doing it without cash from venture capitalists.

The internet is seen as having a positive impact on businesses big and small, by not just improving sales but also by taking business processes and streamlining them and making businesses more productive and hence more profitable. The savings that have been created by improvement to business processes have made some huge savings for businesses, including some multibillion-dollar companies.

Then there is the other viewpoint that e-commerce is heading for a fall. Some believe that as time goes on sales will start to fall. Those online shoppers are not loyal and are only after a fantastic deal and freebies and will not return to a site, just flit around looking for the latest bargain. Also it is seen that the increase in online shoppers is likely to come from the older population and they will be more cautious about buying online.

If you would like my two bobs worth as a past retail business owner, I see many advantages for business owners in using the internet. From my experience, dealing with business people and talking about the internet, there are a number of business people that are afraid of the internet. When I look at their businesses and their reluctance to take the challenge of mastering the web it concerns me. Out of my other eye I see the young up and coming people with business ideas and more efficient systems starting to take over from these older businesses.

Whatever happens, the future will be very exciting and I do see the internet playing a major part in business whether it is by contributing to increased sales and/or increased efficiency

Chat and Webcam Rooms

When I first started looking at Video Conferencing one of my first thoughts is why would I use a Video Conferencing room when I could just go into a chat room? Well one of the main reasons is when it comes down to business you need the privacy. Then I wondered...is it really necessary to go right through to Video Conferencing?

This depends on your use for the communication. If you are wanting to communicate and have something to gain by actually seeing the body language of the person, maybe even just the facial expression - then it is worth the Video Conferencing. Different product will suit different purposes and it may not be necessary for everything to go for Video Conferencing. There may be occasions when Audio Conferencing is satisfactory.

When considering Video Conferencing, also consider the advantages in the desktop sharing aspect. Is this available in the product that you are looking at? Will your viewers be using Mac or PC's? Some packages cater for one and some cater for another. There are lots of questions to consider. An article will be coming to the http://www.vidconferencing.com/ website shortly with a list of questions to ask yourself...
